A Christmas Carol

Lainey is our little actress. We're not sure where she's got her acting bug from, but nonetheless, she loves it! She has been talking about trying out for A Christmas Carol ever since she did Playmakers in the summer. She auditioned with a poem by Shel Silverstein. She got a "call back" and had to do some more stuff there. Since I have no clue about anything that has to do with theater, we had no idea what a "call back" consisted of. I was a little nervous after the call back but luckily Lainey got asked to be part of the "choir" in the play. It was a perfect part for Lainey so she could see exactly what went into a production of a play. She had to go to play practice twice a week but then when the play got closer, the practices were every weekday. She loved every second of it. In the past performances of A Christmas Carol, the choir pretty much were stuck behind a black screen, not seen much by the audience. This performance was different and I think it turned out fantastic. The choir still sung some songs behind the screen but they were also able to be out on stage for many songs so it was fun to see Lainey on stage.
There was a dress rehearsal and six performances of the play. Three on December 16, two on December 17 and one on December 18. The whole play was done by children 7 to 16 and they did amazing!! Lainey was most excited for the performance that her class came too. After each performance I would ask Lainey if she was tired and she would smile and say no. She loved it! Parents were able to go to the dress rehearsal and take video and pictures of the performance. I am so proud of Lainey!!! Way to go girl...
