Salt Lake Trip August 2-4

Summer 2010 nearly got away from us before we were able to take a small family vacation. Since we didn't have much time (Travis couldn't get very many days off of work), we decided just to head up to the Salt Lake City area. Our first stop...This Is the Place State Park. If you haven't been there, you should go. I took the girls there about 5 years ago and they've talked about it ever since so we thought it was time to go back. They have a lot of cool old buildings and replicas of old buildings from around the state of Utah. At a lot of the buildings they have someone there to tell you the history of the building and have fun things to do. The kids got to wash clothes, play pioneer games, make candles, punch leather, etc. We also road a train that took us around the park and showed us different things that we might not have saw if we hadn't taken the ride. We stayed there for about 4 hours and the kids loved every minute.

They even had horses for the kids to ride

Cooper does NOT like animals. Travis wanted to put him on a horse and I was a little hesitant about it but Coop did just fine

When we were done, we got some pics by some of the statues at the entrance of the park

Yes Brigham, This Is the Place

When we were done at "This Is the Place", we headed to our hotel which was at Thanksgiving Point. We checked in, got freshened up and then went to Texas Road House in Sandy for dinner. Of course it was DELICIOUS! After dinner, we went to the mall for a while then we went back to the hotel for some much needed rest.

The next day we went to Seven Peaks. Luck had it they were having an IHC appreciation day so since Travis works for IHC we got our tickets at a pretty good price. When we first got there it wasn't too busy but as the day went on, the place got soooooo crowded. The kids had fun, but it was kind of a pain to wait in line for so long. We were there for about 4 hours and then decided it was time to leave. We went back to the hotel, got changed and then went to the Mayan for dinner. The food was okay and the kids loved the show they put on.

For our last day we decided to head up to Temple Square. We parked at the Gateway and walked around there for a while and then we took TRAX to Temple Square. We started off at the museum and then made our way to the North Visitor Center. We had fun exploring and looking at the different things there. Finally, it was time to head home. We stopped off at the mall in Provo and then made our way back to Cedar.

They had a neat display on the bottom floor at the North Visitor Center. Lots of life sized statues of different prophets.
